Besides hunting, you can experience our farm life.

Charcoal

We produce charcoal on our farm "Falmouth".

The aim is to counteract bush encroachment of shrubs, combat invasive bushes and preserve grazing areas for our cattle.

The charcoal is sold to a local company. There it is sifted, packaged and exported to Europe via Walvis Bay harbour.

Firewood

We produce firewood for export to South Africa and the local market in Namibia.

Only dry camel thorn wood is harvested, sawn and packaged.

The firewood produces very hot coals, retains heat for a very long time and is ideal for a Namibian "braai".

Cattle

Cattle breeding has been practiced on Ombirisu for over 70 years.

We produce oxen for slaughter, which are processed in an EU-certified export abattoir. Young animals are purchased annually at cattle auctions.

Our animals are raised on pasture without additives, hormones and antibiotics.

At Ombirisu we produce a wide range of fresh products.

These include: cream cheese, milk, quark, yogurt, jam and prickly pear juice. Meat products such as smoked meat, "bratwurst", dry sausage and biltong are also included.

3 Generations - Our Story

1st Generation

Our grandfather Helmuth Traeger, born on 20th October 1897 in Groß-Hennersdorf (Zittau district,Germany), decided to emigrate to Namibia after the First World War as a young soldier. In 1928 he landed in Walvis Bay with only five English pounds in his pocket. He started his own journey, first as a farm manager, then as the owner of a farm store and eventually owning farm "Neu Simmern" on the Elephant River in the South. In 1949, he married our grandmother Elfriede Traeger and in 1950 they bought our farm "Ombirisu" where they started a life together as a young family.

2nd Generation

Our parents, Konrad and Elisabeth Traeger, managed the farm for over 42 years. Starting with the family farm, Ombirisu, they steadily expanded the business over the years. Their focus was on cattle speculation and the production of slaughter oxen for the European export market, a practice we have maintained until today. Sadly, our father, Henning Konrad Traeger, passed away in January 2024. We are now continuing his dream of a family business.

3rd Generation

My wife Nadja and I have been on my parents' farm, Ombirisu, since 2024. Together with my brother Jörn and his wife Julia, we run the cattle farm as a family business. In addition to cattle, we produce firewood and charcoal for the South African and European export markets. We have now realized my childhood dream of establishing a hunting farm and since 2025 we have been welcoming hunting guests from overseas.
